High-end appliance troubleshooting

Find the fault fast: decode Sub-Zero error codes, enter service mode, troubleshoot by brand, or jump straight to your symptom — written by working technicians.

Most high-end appliance problems trace to a handful of causes: a stored fault code, restricted airflow, a worn sensor or igniter, or a sealed-system issue. This hub helps you find the fault fast — read your code, match your symptom in the table below, browse by brand, or jump straight to a guide. Start with the error-code tools if your unit shows a code or a SERVICE light. For sealed-system, refrigerant or control-board faults, we note when a qualified technician is required.

FAQ

Troubleshooting questions

Where do I start if my appliance shows a code or SERVICE light?

Start with the error-code tools. Read the stored code in service mode, then look it up in our Sub-Zero error-code guide (or the Wolf/Viking guides for cooking appliances) to see what it means and the part typically involved before any repair.

Can I fix a high-end appliance fault myself?

A few things are owner-safe: power-cycling at the breaker, cleaning the condenser, clearing a control lock, reseating a cool burner cap. Anything involving the sealed refrigeration system, gas valves, igniter circuits, control boards or live wiring should be left to a qualified technician.

What does a flashing SERVICE light mean?

It means the control board has logged one or more fault codes. It is a prompt to read the stored codes in service mode, not a single fault by itself. Read the codes, then match them in our reference.

Do you need to be a Sub-Zero authorized center to fix these?

No. We are an independent specialist, not a manufacturer-authorized or factory-certified center. We have worked on Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, KitchenAid and GE Monogram across the Bay Area since 2005 using factory-grade parts.

How urgent is a refrigeration fault?

If the unit is still holding temperature, most codes are not an emergency but should be diagnosed soon. If it has stopped cooling, move food and book service promptly to avoid loss.

What information should I have ready when I call?

Your brand and model number (on the rating plate), the exact code or symptom, and anything you have already tried. That lets us arrive with the right parts and a clear plan. Call (650) 668-1554 or book online.
