A Wolf gas surface burner that clicks but will not light usually has a misaligned, wet, or dirty burner cap, a clogged ignition port, or a fouled spark electrode, so the spark cannot reach the gas. On a single burner it is almost always a cleaning or seating issue; if no burner lights at all, suspect the spark module or gas supply.
Burner won't light, explained
When you turn a Wolf burner knob you should hear the igniter click and see gas light within a few seconds. If it clicks but never lights, the spark is firing but is not igniting the gas-air mixture at that burner. This points to something blocking the spark or gas at the burner head rather than a control failure, especially when only one burner is affected.

Why does my Wolf burner click but not light?
The igniter is sparking but the spark or gas is blocked at that burner. Usually the burner cap is dirty, wet, or off-center, or the ignition port is clogged. Clean and reseat the cool cap first.
Can I fix this myself?
Often yes for a single burner. With the burner off and cool, reseat the cap squarely, brush the cap and electrode clean, dry it fully, and clear the ignition port with a toothpick. If it still will not light, it needs service.
Is it safe to keep clicking the burner?
Not for long. Repeated clicking releases gas at the burner. If you smell gas and it will not light within a few seconds, turn the knob off, ventilate, and stop until it is cleaned or repaired.

When every burner fails together, the cause is usually the shared spark module, the gas supply being off, or a wiring fault, not the individual caps. That needs a technician.
How do I clean the spark electrode?
With the burner off and cool, gently brush away carbon and food residue from the small ceramic electrode beside the burner. Do not use water on the electrode area, and make sure everything is dry before relighting.

Yes. The burner switch behind the knob triggers the spark; if it is worn it can spark intermittently or not at all. We test it when cleaning does not solve the problem.

Spills and boil-overs leave residue on the burner cap and electrode, and a cap knocked out of position breaks the spark gap. Food debris clogs the small ignition port so gas does not reach the spark.
