GE Monogram Gas Oven Won't Ignite: Weak Igniter / No Ignition

A GE Monogram gas oven that clicks or glows but won't light - or won't heat at all - almost always has a weak or failed bake igniter that can no longer draw enough current to open the safety gas valve. The standard fix is a new oven igniter (glowbar).
What No ignition means
This is a gas-ignition fault rather than a numeric error code, and it is one of the most searched Monogram oven problems. Monogram gas ovens use a hot-surface 'glowbar' igniter wired in series with the safety gas valve. The igniter must heat up and draw a specific amperage to open the valve and ignite the burner. As the igniter ages it still glows but no longer pulls enough current, so the valve never opens - the oven won't heat even though the igniter lights up.

Why No ignition happens
Glowbar igniters are a wear item: the silicon-carbide or carbide element becomes brittle and resistive over years of cycling, dropping below the amperage needed to trip the valve. Igniters also crack from physical shock or a dropped pan. Less commonly the safety gas valve itself fails, the spark electrode/module on a spark-ignition burner fails, the gas supply is off, or wiring to the igniter is broken.

Why does my Monogram gas oven igniter glow but not light?
The igniter is weak. It still glows but can no longer draw enough current to open the safety gas valve, so no gas is released to ignite. A glowbar that glows without lighting is the textbook sign of an igniter at the end of its life.
Is it safe to keep trying to light the oven?
No. While the igniter glows, gas can be released without igniting, allowing unburned gas to build up. Stop trying to light it, ventilate, and have the igniter replaced. If you smell gas that does not clear, shut off the gas supply.
Can I replace the oven igniter myself?
